$1 Million Raised LIVE On Ustream.TV For Troops

Well, we did it thanks to thousands around the country!

Ustream.TV in partnership with and was able to raise over $1 million during the 8 hour stream-a-thon LIVE.

The list of conserative voices was pretty lengthy from Rush Limbaugh, to Sean Hannity, to Ollie North, to John Bolton. And that only just touches on a few…

The fundraiser was to raise money to send our troops overseas the world’s largest care package before July 4th. As a former Army officer, I know the affect care packages can have on our troops morale, so we were honored to support this effort.

To continue the donations, please visit to donate. Thanks to everyone in the Ustream community who donated! Post a comment to show your support for our men and women serving overseas!

Ustream To Help Troops – 8 Hour Broadcast This Thursday

For those of you who don’t know, the military has a special place in the my heart. Both myself and John Ham, one of the other Ustream founders, are graduates of West Point and served 5 years in the Army on active duty. The military had a tremendous impact on me personally as a man, my life and my future.

My time in the Army was wonderful and I will always look back on those times fondly. The men and women I met, served beside, led, followed, and supported were some of the best in the world. Whether or not you agree with our government’s policies, the men and women who CHOOSE to serve in our all voluntary Army deserve our respect, our gratitude, our support and our love. They are truly heroes in my book.

This Thursday, is proud to support the efforts of From The Front Lines, a 8 hour broadcast hosted by Michelle Malkin and Melanie Morgan to raise money to send our soldiers overseas the world’s LARGEST care packages. If you have served in the military, you know how powerful care packages are.

Please join the live broadcast this Thursday from 1pm PDT to 9 pm PDT on our Ustream channel page here:

The guest list of the show is growing fast from Rush, to Sean Hannity, to Nancy Reagan.

Please show your support for our men and women who serve us all so well by donating this Thursday. Let’s help the From The Front Lines Team reach their goal!

For a good laugh, here are pics of John and I while cadets at West Point, younger, and actually in shape!

MC Lars Strikes Again!

MC Lars strikes again with his wholly unique freestyle music show. Tune in this Wednesday, June 25, at 9 pm EDT / 6 pm PDT for MC Lars’ next freestyle session.

In case you missed his last broadcast, MC Lars is taking the idea of live interactive broadcasts to a new level, befitting his unique talents. Taking topics generated by his viewers in the chatroom, MC Lars and his guest emcees create freestyle rap verses right on the spot.

I submitted a few topics myself, and trust me, the way they’re able to flip a line out of thin air can be nothing short of… goosebump-inducing.

Join the fun all over again tomorrow.

Here’s what you can expect:

What does Shinedown and Jessica Simpson have in common?

Shinedown came, they saw, they chatted, they recorded. As I type this, they’re rocking out a sold-out crowded venue in Houston, having just chatted out thousands of fans in a crowded room in Ustream.

Here’s the vid:

Events No Longer Bound By Location: Apple WWDC Keynote

When Steve Jobs talks there is almost a religious feel to his words – people listen and are mesmerized. Whatever Steve says is truth – whatever Steve presents is gold.

The Apple WWDC is extremely exclusive – reserved to those with influence and power. A mere hand full of people actually made it into the much anticipated Steve Jobs keynote thus leaving the masses in the dark. solved this.

The keynote was streamed LIVE to nearly three hundred thousand people total and nearly sixty thousand at any given time. That is amazing. Those hundreds of thousands of people did not have to wait a couple hours to find out what was said, they didn’t need to sit alone in their room twiddling their thumbs – Oh no – The masses gathered on and together listened LIVE to Steve Jobs unveil the 3G iPhone. In the moments leading up to it they nervously talked in the chat room and once announced cheered together. The excitement gave me chills.

We are honored to have provided this. There are so many events world wide that are just itching to be streamed. There are so many people aching to watch. It’s up to you to stream it.

Contact us at if you need help with promotion or set up. We want you to have the most flawless live stream ever and we will do everything and more to make sure that happens.

Thank you for creating shows and building this community. It is you, the Ustreamer, who is making live video huge. Now lets step it up a notch.

Wednesday – New Features Release!

Attention all Ustreamers,

We have new toys for you to play with! In addition to making a few site improvements, today we rolled out a brand new feature: Event Scheduling!

Ustreamers can now schedule a broadcasting Event for a specific date and time. Once an Event is scheduled, the Event will appear on the Ustreamer’s show page, where interested viewers will be able to click “Follow” to start receiving notifications about the event. Event Followers will be sent reminders of upcoming Events via email and the Ustream message box, in addition to being notified if the Event is rescheduled or canceled. Pretty cool. Now, you’ll never miss out on another live broadcast again!

In addition to the new Event Scheduling feature, we’ve updated and improved a few other features:

The new Sharing and Embedding Tool is a sleeker, simpler, and more STREAM-lined (get it?) version of the previous one.

In addition to being able to easily email and embed Ustream shows, Ustreamers can now quickly Digg, Twitter, and Stumbleupon interesting shows with a single click.

Ustream is going mainstream! Check out our updated About Us section to see Ustream Founders Brad Hunstable and John Ham being interviewed on Fox Business. (If you watch closely, you’ll see some of the Ustream team showing off our cool interactive features.)

We’ve given our Help Center a new look and added Top Frequently Asked Questions! With clear annotated pictures and bullet-point troubleshooting instructions, these Top Frequently Asked Questions address the most commonly encountered issues on Ustream. Be sure to send them to anyone you know trying out Ustream for the first time.

You pick topic, MC Lars spits verse

You can always tell a first time Ustream.TV viewer by the following chat query: “Is this really live?”

You almost feel the “WOW!” when the broadcaster immediately replies the affirmative. It’s the magic of the real-time interaction during the content creation process, as I’m sure Ustreamers are well aware.

This Tuesday, June 10, starting at 6 pm Pacific, your favorite post-punk laptop rapper, MC Lars, takes the concept of real-time interaction to ridiculous new heights. Join MC Lars for a first-of-its-kind RAP FREESTYLE SESSION, where MC Lars will be rhyming to the topics YOU submit in the chatroom. It’s as if you were in MC Lars’ cypher yourself. How cool is that?

And as if that wasn’t enough, MC Lars is bringing out Political hip-hop group AR-15 and Central California rapper MNP/film director/Brooks Academy graduate Tim Thompson to join in on the freestyle festivities.

This will be an inaugural show in a series of live freestyle sessions, so come and show your support.

The more ridiculous your topic, the more likely you become a co-producer of his next freestyle recording! If you absolutely can’t make it, leave your topics in the comment, and we’ll have Lars try to throw it into the mix.

Wow. The race for the Democratic nomination was exciting, controversial, hard fought, and a tremendous demonstration of Democracy in action. And we saw the finale live on Ustream.

Last night I watched Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama celebrate victory as the nominee for the Democratic Party. The speech was powerful.

Watch it here if you missed it.
