Getting “Red”y at The RNC

Black suits, ear pieces, matching sun glasses, camo, guns, badges, road blocks, and red elaphants oh my. With the convention coming up fast on Monday, security is exponentially getting tighter and the peremeter getting larger. The Xcel Energy Center is buzzing with a mix of Secret Service, Press, and two Ustream employees – all of whom are giving 200% to ensure perfection.

For the past three days Brad and I have been setting up streams for the Republican National Convention. The quality is, like all of our streams, amazing. For the first time ever, you will be able to watch the RNC from the comfort of your computer chair. It’s amazing that we live in an age where live premium content is delivered directly to our work, school, or home computer. Ustream allows us to stay informed in real time, and more importantly, share that experience with millions around the world.

Pictured below are Brad and I, standing in front of the main stage, ready to bring you into the RNC with Ustream.

As I finish this update, I notice I’m typing in synch with the loud throbbing military helicopters that are constantly keeping watch a hundred feet above me.

E3: Presented by 1UP.com

Back in 2006 nearly 60,000 people were allowed to attend E3, which at the time was the biggest gaming conference in the world. In 2007 the conference was radically reduced – leaving it as an invite only event with a max capacity of 5,000.

Now how do you get a live stream of an invite only gaming conference?

You partner with epic gaming website 1UP.com!

1UP is in the trenches streaming both the Nintendo and Sony conferences at E3. Spore on the Nintendo DS, cookbook on the DS, snowboard for the Wii… These announcements are only going to get crazier! I can’t wait.

If you’re going to stay up to date on the E3 announcements you better be watching the 1UP Ustream.

Ustream To Help Troops – 8 Hour Broadcast This Thursday

For those of you who don’t know, the military has a special place in the my heart. Both myself and John Ham, one of the other Ustream founders, are graduates of West Point and served 5 years in the Army on active duty. The military had a tremendous impact on me personally as a man, my life and my future.

My time in the Army was wonderful and I will always look back on those times fondly. The men and women I met, served beside, led, followed, and supported were some of the best in the world. Whether or not you agree with our government’s policies, the men and women who CHOOSE to serve in our all voluntary Army deserve our respect, our gratitude, our support and our love. They are truly heroes in my book.

This Thursday, Ustream.tv is proud to support the efforts of From The Front Lines, a 8 hour broadcast hosted by Michelle Malkin and Melanie Morgan to raise money to send our soldiers overseas the world’s LARGEST care packages. If you have served in the military, you know how powerful care packages are.

Please join the live broadcast this Thursday from 1pm PDT to 9 pm PDT on our Ustream channel page here:

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/from-the-frontlines

The guest list of the show is growing fast from Rush, to Sean Hannity, to Nancy Reagan.

Please show your support for our men and women who serve us all so well by donating this Thursday. Let’s help the From The Front Lines Team reach their goal!

For a good laugh, here are pics of John and I while cadets at West Point, younger, and actually in shape!

Events No Longer Bound By Location: Apple WWDC Keynote

applewwdc.png

When Steve Jobs talks there is almost a religious feel to his words – people listen and are mesmerized. Whatever Steve says is truth – whatever Steve presents is gold.

The Apple WWDC is extremely exclusive – reserved to those with influence and power. A mere hand full of people actually made it into the much anticipated Steve Jobs keynote thus leaving the masses in the dark.

Ustream.tv solved this.

The keynote was streamed LIVE to nearly three hundred thousand people total and nearly sixty thousand at any given time. That is amazing. Those hundreds of thousands of people did not have to wait a couple hours to find out what was said, they didn’t need to sit alone in their room twiddling their thumbs – Oh no – The masses gathered on Ustream.tv and together listened LIVE to Steve Jobs unveil the 3G iPhone. In the moments leading up to it they nervously talked in the chat room and once announced cheered together. The excitement gave me chills.

We are honored to have provided this. There are so many events world wide that are just itching to be streamed. There are so many people aching to watch. It’s up to you to stream it.

Contact us at events@ustream.tv if you need help with promotion or set up. We want you to have the most flawless live stream ever and we will do everything and more to make sure that happens.

Thank you for creating shows and building this community. It is you, the Ustreamer, who is making live video huge. Now lets step it up a notch.

Ustream.TV: AlwaysOn and ShowingOff

aohollywoodlogowinner200px.jpgDoes it sound count as showing off if we announce an award with a healthy dose of blushing?

Either way, I’m bashfully proud to announce that Ustream.TV has been chosen by AlwaysOn as an OnHollywood 100 company. And of the 100 top private tech companies in digital media, AlwaysOn’s editorial staff picked out Ustream as “Best Up & Coming Company”. We were one of two companies distinguished amongst the top 100, along with “Best Overall” winner iLike.

I’m blushing, and so should you. Without our broadcasters, our viewers, our Ustreamers… without YOU… none of this would be possible. It’s been a wild upswing of a ride thus far, and hopefully you’ll be around when “Best Up & Coming” converts to “Best Already There”.

Other winners include mainstays Slide, RockYou, Flixter, Kongregate, Mochi Media, and about 94 other outstanding social media peer comanies.

Here’s the proper announcement here, and the full list of all 100 winners here.

Digg Town Hall Numero 2 Went GREAT!

Kevin Rose and Jay Adelson.

Yes a dog kept running back and forth behind them, yes they were drinking soda instead of their usual imported beers, and YES they both matched at the beginning of the Town Hall…

BUT!

They had a great Town Hall. They answered tons of questions and enjoyed themselves throughout. It looks easy, but lets give them a round of applause, or at least a golf clap as you sit there behind your computer screen. Bravo Digg, Bravo.

If you missed the recording, I included the embed below. Enjoy 🙂
