Building Synergies to Promote Climate Resiliency in Livelihoods in India

Impact of climate change is most pronounced in the livelihoods of poor and small farmers in rural areas. This e-learning module presents how sustainable livelihoods and adaptation to climate change aspects are being built in rural livelihood programs for reducing vulnerability and improving resilience of 50 million poor households across 600 districts of the country through self-managed Self Help Groups (SHGs) and their federated institutions. Some of the innovations and strategies used are climate smart agriculture, strengthening ecological services, making farmers technology, knowledge and financially smart e.g. Weather Based Index Insurance and climate based advisories through mobiles.
