The BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series is a major international sporting event managed by Swimming Australia in partnership with the Western Australian State Government (via Eventscorp) and naming rights partner, BHP Billiton.
In an Australian first, the BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series will combine a unique festival of elite and mass participation aquatic sport, headlined by the EnergyAustralia Swim Team taking on the might of the Chinese and South African swim teams.
The diverse nature of the event will also encompass an elite international water polo competition featuring Australia, Croatia and China, a mass participation open water swim in the iconic Swan River, combining both elite athlete and general participation, and an extensive community engagement program which will see athletes embark on regional visits that will engage communities throughout country and metropolitan Western Australia.
The BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series will also be the only time that the Australian Water Polo and Swim Teams get to compete on the same stage, with the exception of the World Championships or Olympic Games.
