NASA’s contributions to understanding climate change are well known thanks to long-term observations of temperature, sea level, ice mass, humidity, ozone, etc., as well as the understanding of key processes and development of short- and long-term forecasting abilities through modeling at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and elsewhere. NASA is not, however, a policy agency and does not want to become one, yet there is important science that needs to be improved and extended to help policymakers make more informed decisions. This science is often more multidisciplinary than many of us are initially comfortable with, but the direct impact of the research is often much greater.
Streamed live on April 26, 2021 from 12:00pm - 1:00pm EDT.
NASA Goddard Space Flight Center is home to the nation's largest organization of combined scientists, engineers, and technologists that build spacecraft, instruments, and new technology to study the Earth, the sun, our solar system, and the universe.
