Temina outlines how CGIAR addresses the nexus during the food production phase of the agrifood system. She explains how fostering partnerships and reviving traditional agriculture techniques are leveraged in CGIAR programming through the collaboration with the government of Odisha. Effective interventions to improve environmental and nutritional outcomes have included capacity development initiatives and the operation of dikes in household backyard ponds and village tanks during the Odisha Carp and Sweet Potato project, for example.
The video was created as part of the second edition of the World Bank – FAO Knowledge Session series on the nexus of food systems, nutrition, and climate change. The Series examines how policies and actions on the ground can make agrifood systems more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable, enabling healthy diets and better nutrition while tackling climate change and biodiversity loss.
