Using consumption survey to measure the nutritional content and emission intensity of diets - Chris
1 year ago88 views
Chris highlights how consumer behavior is driving global greenhouse gas emissions and explores how a shift towards healthier diets might affect this. He sheds light on some of the difficulties in measuring the nexus such as whether to attribute emission intensity data to producing or consuming countries and how to bring together different nutrition and climate data sources such as food consumption surveys, nutrition composition tables and emission intensities of foods. Chris highlights the huge potential for win-win outcomes on nutrition and climate goals siting potential policy solutions such as nudging consumer preferences and carbon taxation.
The video was created as part of the second edition of the World Bank – FAO Knowledge Session series on the nexus of food systems, nutrition, and climate change. The Series examines how policies and actions on the ground can make agrifood systems more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable, enabling healthy diets and better nutrition while tackling climate change and biodiversity loss.
